Illiteracy Rate
Troy, NY (March 29, 2006) — One out of five
people living in the Capital Region is functionally illiterate*. As Tech Valley gears up for the 21st
Century, are we leaving our most vulnerable citizens behind?
Training a
skilled workforce for the Capital Region is Questar III’s mission. For
nearly three decades, Questar III has been providing adult education
classes in Rensselaer, Columbia,
and Greene counties.
It doesn’t
matter whether a student has recently dropped out of school or is returning
after many years. Age 16 or 60, Questar III has services to fit the
ever-increasing population of adult learners.
Our programs
include:

Adult Basic Education for beginning students.
·
Classes to prepare for the New York State General
Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) exam.
·
Classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages
(E.S.O.L.).
·
Family literacy.
·
Job search and employment skills.
·
The External Degree Program, helping qualified
students earn a diploma from a local high school.
·
Day and evening classes, year-round programs, and a
dedicated staff of adult educators!
