Task: Working in small groups, or
individually, review the links below on arthropods and insects and then answer
the study questions.
Objective: Students will be able to identify types of arthropods and insects as well as explain what benefits or harm they cause humans.

Task 1: Use the following links for information to help you answer the study questions below:
Study Questions:
1) What is an arthropod?
2) What characteristics typify arthropods and insects? What are the differences and similarities?
3) What are the classifications of insects?
4) Is a spider an insect? Why or why not?
5) Are insects beneficial or harmful to humans?
Task 2: Test your knowledge of arthropods by trying some of these interactive games and exercises!
Task 3: Prepare a presentation for class on an arthropod. Make sure you answer the following questions:
1) What are the characteristics of the arthropod?
2) What kinds of habitats does can the arthropod live in?
3) What is unique about this arthropod?
4) Is the species beneficial or harmful to humans?
5) What is the most interesting thing about this arthropod that you learned?
